20 Belief Breakthrough Questions

    • HAVE you ever set a goal ... and ACHIEVED it?
    • HAVE you ever set a goal ... and NOT achieved it?
    • WHAT was the main difference between you achieving a goal, and not achieving a goal?

At some point in your life, I know you will have experienced those above situations. From a coaching perspective, I often ask my clients the above three questions, because it throws a curve ball, and brings up all kind of different things like: they didn't know how to start, they put blame outside themselves onto someone or something for not achieveing their goal, or they carried the belief of "I can't do it, it's just not me".

Maybe someone once told you that YOU CAN'T DO IT, and perhaps you turned those words into a self-fulfilling prophecy or limiting belief about yourself. "Gary, don't even go there, it will all go horribly wrong because its just not you, you can't do it."

If truth be told, I remember someone actually saying those exact words to me during a face to face conversation. If I ever needed the motivation to take action and prove others wrong, it was right there for me to grab. However I wanted to achieve this goal for ME, because it was really important to ME, and I believed deep down in my soul that I could do it for ME.

Did you know that WORDS only represent 7% of Human Communication? - Words can carry a lot of powerful weight, especially if they are said in the wrong context. They can turn any positive thoughts and feelings, into negative thoughts and feelings, just like the flick of a switch. Words can empower you or disempower you in a matter of seconds. From being in a real positive emotional state, you are left feeling like shit. Pardon my French.

YOU are the gatekeeper to your personal thoughts and feelings, don't let other people contaminate them with stuff THEY think is right for you, or negative about you. Stand guard.

Until 1954, the athletic world carried a UNIVERSAL belief, that it was IMPOSSIBLE to run a Mile in under 4 minutes, and this became a self-fulfilling prophecy even to the most PROLIFIC runners, which was ingrained into there unconscious mind and conscious mind ... that  you just CAN'T DO IT, it’s not possible.

In June 1954, one man by the name of Roger Bannister (photo above) turned this universal belief on its head, and shocked the entire world by pulling down a dark psychological barrier, becoming the FIRST man to run the mile in under four minutes. Even the non athletic runner started to think if this is now possible, what else is possible.

Bannisters personal time of 3:59.4 seconds, stood as a record for only 46 days, as Australian John Landry bettered Bannister's record with an astonishing time of 3:57:9 seconds. Today the current World Record holder for running a mile is held by Moroccan, Hicham El Guerrouj, who ran a time of 3:43:13 seconds in 1999.

Do you hold any limiting beliefs that stop you getting more of what you want in your personal and professional life?

 Is The Belief Limiting:

  • Does this belief EMPOWER me?
  • Does this belief enable me to BE more or less?
  • Does this belief enable me to DO more or less?
  • Does this belief enable me to HAVE more or less?

Are You Losing Out:

  • What has this belief cost you In the PAST?
  • What is this belief costing you right NOW?
  • What will this belief cost you in the FUTURE if you don’t change?

Now Fully Question Your Belief:

  • How would YOU know of this belief were false?
  • For WHOM is this belief true?
  • When WAS this belief not true for you?
  • In what ways do you know that this belief is FALSE now?
  • In what ways could the OPPOSITE of this belief be true?
  • What was the PURPOSE of having this belief
  • What do you WANT to believe instead?
  • How will you KNOW that this is true?
  • Who ELSE do you know, who knows that this is true?
  • How many WAYS in the past have you experienced this being true?
  • What are all the POSITIVE consequences of you believing this is true from now on?
  • Are you WILLING to do whatever it takes, no matter how uncomfortable things get in the future?

You have that "WARROR" Spirit inside of you, we all do, and now is the right time to let it show !!!!
